Initial Acceleration

 

The boundary condition "Initial Acceleration" is used in dynamic problems to specify the acceleration of the elements of the system at the initial instant of time t = 0. To specify the Initial Acceleration, use one of the following methods:

Main Menu:

AutoFEM | Initial Conditions | Initial Acceleration

Icon:

After invoking this command, it is necessary to select the body (or several bodies) for applying the load. They will be added to the list.


The command dialogue

It is necessary to specify:

magnitude of initial acceleration;

units: m/sec2, cm/sec2, in/sec2;

direction;

in the properties window.

 

A typical sequence of steps to specify the Initial Acceleration:

1.Initiate command Initial Acceleration .

2.Specify the value of acceleration.

3.Specify the direction of the acceleration  at the initial instant of time t=0.

4.Complete the command.
