Symmetry of shell structures

For mechanical problems in the shell formulation (triangular finite elements), symmetry is set by the condition of equality to zero of displacements along the normal line to the plane of symmetry and zero turns relative to axes in the plane of symmetry.

Setting up the boundary condition of symmetry for shells via the command "Fixture"

The example of using symmetry for a shell system is presented in this figure.

On the left is the initial model; on the right, its analogue, obtained via the condition of symmetry

For convenience of setting up the condition of symmetry in mechanical problems, AutoFEM Analysis has a special command “Plane of symmetry”.
